Tell us about your own sightings..

Australia and New Zealand people only: Have you seen a fairy? Have you seen something strange in the garden, bush or in your own house, that could only be described as a type of fairy? We would like to know all the details of what you saw, and compile a book about it. If you live in Australia or New Zealand, we would like to hear about your strange sighting/s.
We know that many 'European' style fairies are seen in the Antipodes, probably coming over with people and their European trees. We'd like to learn more about what people have witnessed.

If you are from another country and have a story, feel free to tell us. The more we understand about these entities, the better...

Away with the Fairies: Photographs taken in Lancashire

One of John's pictures
University Lecturer John Hyatt claims he has taken photos of fairies over the past 2 years in Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. He expresses that his photos have not been photoshopped in any way.
Hyatt is the Director of Manchester Institute for Research and Innovation in Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University.
At first, he was shocked by it and made sure by going outside again to take more pictures of bugs, which, he found, did not resemble the pictures he took.
'I went out afterwards and took pictures of flies and gnats and they just don't look the same. People can decide for themselves what they are. The message to people is to approach them with an open mind. I think it's one of those situation where you need to believe to see. A lot of people who have seen the say they have brought a little bit of magic into their lives and there's not enough of that around.'
Hyatt is showing the photos in an exhibition titled ‘Rossendale Fairies’ in The Whitaker Museum in Whitaker Park in Rossendale, throughout the spring.
It brings back the memories of the Cottingley Fairies of 1917, where young girls Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths took the infamous black and white photographs of themselves with winged fairies. The exhibition is named ‘Rossendale Fairies’ in memory of the ‘Cottingley Fairy’ photographs in Yorkshire almost 100 years ago.
